Travel to Paris - airports, rail and sea

There are a number of ways for international travellers to get to Paris, France. If you are planning a trip to this city, you can choose to get there by air, train or road.

Airports and flying - If you are looking to fly into Paris, the city has two major airports, namely, the Charles de Gaulle Airport which is near Roissy-en-France, and Orly Airport which is located in the south of Paris. Apart from this, there is also the Beauvais Tillé Airport which is about 70 kilometres north of the city. Considering the large number of airlines flying into Paris, it will be very easy for visitors to get a flight to the city from almost any destination in the world.

Paris by rail - Another option for people looking to get to Paris is the Rail service. Paris is very accessible by train, both from Europe or within France. The city has 6 major stations that are connected by three rail networks. The stations are Gare Saint-Lazare, Gare d’Austerlitz, Gare de Lyon, Gare de l’Est, Gare Montparnasse and Gare du Nord which are served by the high speed TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse), the regular speed Corail and the Transilien suburban rail networks.

If you are looking to reach Paris from London, one of the easiest transport options is the Eurostar rail service. Travellers from Europe can use the Thalys train that arrives in Paris from Germany, Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

Getting to France by ferry - There are also ferry services that connect Ireland and the UK to the French Coast. However, the ports are located rather far from Paris, and unless you are driving down in your own car, taking the ferry is probably not a great idea. However, if you are considering driving in from the UK, it works out cheaper than the train.
